Residents across north Queensland caught almost 1 tonne of toads, or about 10,000 individual reptiles in the second annual Toad Day Out.
The toads were euthanased humanely in freezers and will now be used for research and fertiliser.
A number have been handed over to taxidermists to be stuffed to make trophies and novelty items, including popular State of Origin designs.
The biggest toad handed in was a 18.4cm giant caught by a Cairns family which weighed more than half a kilo.
