Emily Deschanel plays Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan on the FOX TV series "Bones".
The character is very loosely based on American crime writer, forensic anthropologist and academic, Kathy Reichs and on the heroine in Reich's novels.

Her mother Mary Jo Deschanel is also an actress anf her father Caleb Deschanel is an Academy Award-nominated cinematographer.
